How I’ve Turned My Life Around and YOU CAN TOO!

Written By Millen Livis

When we live in the context of sufficiency, we find a natural freedom and integrity.” ~ Lynne Twist

Today I am writing to you from our villa in the South of France. Every time I look outside of my window, I hold my breath…. The lushness of nature, the beautiful Mountain View, blissful fragrance from the rose garden and the astonishing view on the Mediterranean Sea make me feel like I live in heaven on Earth! Why am I sharing this with you today? Because just a few years ago I was living in a rental apartment, felt like a failure and thought whether it’s even worth for me to continue on my journey…. Yes, I was in that dark place… and felt hopeless and alone.

My conscious mind was ruling my life and it was not a happy experience. I was focusing on what was missing in my life (money, house, love, security) and by focusing on “lack” in my life, I was creating more of the same. My life at that time was a reflection of my conscious mind: new business efforts failed, my years of savings were exhausted, and my health was in a downward spiral.

Fortunately, I was referred to an intuitive and experienced financial coach who listened to me intently and offered much needed support and guidance. I learned that we create our reality with our subconscious mind by “imprinting” beliefs and images into it via (conscious or unconscious) Intention and Focus.

I began practicing mindfulness and success rituals and focused on what worked in my life! I had shelter and food, people that loved and cared about me, my health and my gifts. I realized that scarcity is an illusion that we choose to buy into.

I honestly feel that it’s a test in our Earth class to be able to reconnect to your divine self and find the way to see and experience abundance in your everyday life instead of scarcity and lack!

It is quite common that people prioritize “technical aspects” of making money (e.g. investing strategies) and underestimate the essential role of our subconscious mind that truly rules our lives. Yet developing abundance mindset is a precursor to achieving the ultimate success in life – happiness and joy.

The mindset of scarcity is wildly spread among people from all walks of life, from folks who live paycheck-to-paycheck to people with large fortunes who worry about losing it all and are crippled by fears and stress.

Most of the time, we inherit the mindset of scarcity from family and friends and from society’s culture of “deficiency,” “there is not enough” and “more is better.” The messages of scarcity and lack get accepted as true.  It’s NOT YOUR FAULT if you feel anxiety and fear about money – you were conditioned with sabotaging money thinking! Majority of people are unaware of the ways the scarcity-mentality affects their lives and relationship with money.

When you believe in the notion of scarcity, you focus on a deficiency in your life and put all your efforts into overcoming the perceived lack. Your “chase for more,” especially when it comes to money, becomes your guiding objective, your drive, your intention and…your curse. It drains your energy, brings worry and stress into your life and deprives you of joyful and peaceful experiences.

I realize that it is not easy to avoid focusing on scarcity when you are out of a job, have increased student loan debt or cannot afford to go on vacation with your family. I get it. I’ve been there.

That’s why I want you to keep your head high, be honest with yourself about money issues but relentlessly believe in your ability to handle any challenges that come your way and have enough patience and wisdom to appreciate what you do have NOW and many opportunities in your life.

What Do You Choose?

Like with everything in life, you can choose to:

  1. Continue crippling your life by fears and insecurities of the scarcity mindset and society’s money culture; feeling that “you are not enough” and “alone against the world.”
  2. Expand your ways of seeing life, let go of greed and worry; accept the uncertain nature of life, ask for help; learn ways to grow wealth and focus your intention on experiencing fulfillment, love and joy.

Once you let go of the paralyzing fear of “not enough,” you’ll experience a liberating and empowering sense of sufficiency, which comes from knowing that no matter what, there is enough and that you are enough and capable of handling any life challenges.

If you feel that you are really committed to living an abundant life and would like to belong to a community of like-minded people, who are seeking their own Path to Financial Freedom, I invite you to join “The Financial Wellness Movement” and our intimate Facebook tribe “The Soulful, Abundant and Prosperous Women”

To Your Health, Wealth and Freedom!

With Love and Gratitude,

  1. This is so true Millen! And it is an easy trap to fall into. Sometimes we’re raised in an atmosphere of fear of scarcity, and sometimes things happen and we experience it firsthand. Most people who have lived through periods where they didn’t know where their next meal would come from can relate, I’ve been there a couple of times in my life. It takes work to push through that mindset but you are so right about how important it is to make it happen. Thanks!

    1. Glad this message resonated with you, Marquita! Yes, it’s certainly not easy when faith is the only thing you can have for dinner… and it takes work indeed to push through…. But what is the better alternative? 🙂 Often in life, we just have to keep going in spite of financial misfortune or fear. Just like you, I have a wide range of financial experiences and like to pay attention to patterns… Developing an abundance mindset (and it is a continuous journey, not a destination) is one of the main factors that made a difference in my life. Thank you again for contributing to the conversation!

  2. Beautiful post, Millen and I truly wish I was with you in the south of France enjoying the magnificent view! I was told by a medical astrologer many years ago, that I carry a poverty miasm from my matriarchal side. Somehow “money” was an issue I arrived on the planet with this time. Lots of examples in my immediate family of where money has also been the issue. I’ve really worked to transform it in this lifetime and have taken my focus off financial abundance, as it became like a double for me and was creating health issues. Now my focus is how to be of service and I envision myself as being “rich and famous”. I also arrived with that as well. Somehow great wealth has eluded me in this lifetime so far. I know I have been guided and much of my journey in this lifetime has been about “health”. I truly appreciate your message and sharing from your own personal experiences. Somehow that makes everything more alive and real!

    1. Thank you for sharing your own journey, Beverley! I agree with you – we all come to this planet with lessons to learn. I like that you are very clear about your own journey’s purpose and am sure that your passion, talent and experience will benefit a lot of people. For me, freedom – personal, financial, professional – was always my deepest desire. Like I said, I’ve gone through a few lessons in life and now, just like you, I am in a place to share my know-how and serve others. Thank you again for your beautiful sharing!

  3. This is such a beautiful post, Millen, and so true that our deep core beliefs create our external picture. I love your journey, and I congratulate you on creating a whole new reality for yourself through the power of the mind! xo

    1. Thank you for your kind words, Reba! Yes, my reality shifted when my mindset shifted…. It took time, patience and efforts, but it all started within….

  4. Love this Millen, I felt like I was reading both my own story and that of my clients. Creating what I call and abundant minset helps up make that shift from lack into prosperity, thank you xx

    1. I agree, Suzie, it’s all about perspective, isn’t? And a simple shift in focus can make a huge difference! Thank you for your feedback!

  5. ‘When you believe in the notion of scarcity, you focus on deficiency in your life and put all your efforts into overcoming the perceived lack.’

This really resonated with me. More and more I come from a place of abundance and there is more than enough in this world. When I clean my home and declutter, I realise how much I do have. And that is just material things. And most of it not used or necessary!

    1. I am glad to see that the message in this post resonated with you, Chantal. Yes, we ALL have abundance around and inside us, we just need to become aware of it… focus on it… and appreciate it. Thank you for your comment, Chantal!

    1. I do feel abundant indeed, Kim! One of my friends calls me the “Prosperity Goddess” 🙂 Thank you for stopping by!

  6. Lovely post… All the answers that you are searching for are within you. Have faith in yourself. The moment you change your perception about money, love, relationships, success and growth – things start to fall in place… 🙂

    1. Thank you for stopping by, Pooja, and for sharing your perception about success in life!
