How Your Attitude Affects Your Finances

The number one question I always get asked is, “How can I have more money”?
People want to know how they can make more money and save more money.
And, most importantly, how to live a more free life so they can actually enjoy themselves rather than always worrying about money.
You might think the first thing I tell them to do is crack open their calculators and start budgeting ASAP or hit the classified ads to get a part time job to supplement their income. NOPE!
The first thing I always want to know is: What is your attitude about money?
I know this may sound woo woo or “out there” to some of you, but the truth is money is VERY emotional.
Take Ms. Broke Sourpuss, for example:

Have you ever heard the saying “You reap what you sow”?
Let’s apply that to Ms. Broke Sourpuss…she is constantly convincing herself she is broke. And because of her defeatist attitude this woman will always be broke, no matter how much money she makes, saves, or spends.
She REAPS being broke because she SOWS being broke.
I know this for a hard fact because I struggled with $30,000 of debt for many years, even though I have a degree in Accounting and was able to help all my clients with their money issues.
I had all the best financial tools and resources at my fingertips to be great with my money, but I was a broke mess because I walked around with a broke sourpuss attitude.
When I FINALLY decided to shift my emotions and mentality from those of being broke and depressed to those of being happy and having plenty of money, it was then that I started to actually have more money and brake free from debt.
I have seen this happen with tons of my clients as well. The ones that have a great attitude about money, even when times are tough, are the ones that inevitably thrive and always have money.
And on the flip side, the clients that are always complaining they NEVER have any money never do, no matter how much or how little they actually make.
I’ve been in the finance business for 10 years and can tell you this is always the case, without fail.
So the next time you find yourself stressing about money take a moment and ask yourself…are my emotions REAPING the money that I want to SOW?
Or are you making yourself broke before you even step foot out of bed in the morning?
