“I love when you are in your feminine energy” said my husband. “And I enjoy when you are in your masculine” I replied.
This was an exchange my husband and I had while on a short get-away trip to Key West for my birthday. I love surprises (pleasant ones!) and my husband is considerate and observant enough to not only notice what I like but also execute the “surprise plan” perfectly! I had no clue where we are going, what we are going to do there and for how long. He was LEADING our brief get away from the beginning to the end and I loved it!
Although the drive to get to Key West was a bit long for me, once we arrived it was all worth it. I loved the resort where we stayed – a private white-sand beach that had an official topless section (yehh) and a cozy restaurant with the ocean view and fantastic crab cakes (yamm). I enjoyed the proximity to the town that offers great art galleries, diverse dining and shopping experience. But my favorite experience was an outdoor couple’s massage with a tender sea-breeze and beautiful meditation music in a background.
We truly had a fantastic time – enjoyed each other company with no phone, no computer and no TV….
Why am I sharing this with you now? Because you may not realize how much YOU need a pause in your work, your relationship, your life. You see, when you act like a busy bee all the time, you may not realize what you miss in your life – appreciating nature, your partner, yourself. You may be so focused on important things like problems at work, issues with your children or partner and financial challenges that you miss the big picture… life is meant to be enjoyable.
I believe that we all need a pause from time to time, whether it’s a short get-away, a day spent in the nature or just a “nothing to do, nowhere to go” kinda day. Make it as fancy as you want or as simple as you want – you get to choose. But PAUSE… you may just rediscover some lost treasures… like peace of mind, joy of living and loving. When your heart opens up – your life opens up.
