Essential #3 for Creating Wealth and Success

    What you appreciate, appreciates.

I am pretty sure you’ve heard the phrase “What you appreciate, appreciates” a few time already.

However, today I want you to really hear me and TRULY embrace the power you have by being AWARE of your Focus of Attention.

    Because…WHAT YOU FOCUS ON, EXPANDS.

That brings me to the Essential # 3 for Creating Wealth and Success:

Use the Power of Your Attention

Let me share with you briefly my personal story to demonstrate this power.

After I resigned from my “comfortable” job to go to the business school, left my “comfortable” marriage and started my own investment business, I expected that my life will be more exciting, more meaningful, and more adventurous.

Well, the beginning was too adventurous…. I felt like I was on a roller-coaster and then hit a wall. Everything seemed to be falling apart – from my health, to my business, to money and relationships.

My critical mind was constantly bringing my attention to what was NOT working (e.g. business, health, relationship) and what I didn’t have (e.g. a house, family, money).

I felt like a total failure.

You see, everybody goes through some crazy phases in life when it feels like everything is falling apart. That is the time to TRAIN your mind to focus on what works in your life and count your blessings!

Awareness of YOUR ATTENTION is paramount if you want to start creating your life intentionally/consciously.

Just like you use a remote control to switch a TV channel from something you don’t like, you can use your AWARENESS as your lever to direct your attention intentionally. And where your attention goes, energy flows.

Now let’s look at this essential principal from a practical perspective as it pertains to managing your money and creating wealth.

I am a big proponent of fiscal discipline. You’ve got to be a good custodian of your money if you want your money to “hang out” with you and in your world.

However, fiscal discipline is NOT the same as frugality.

For example, when you choose to save money, make sure you focus on what you say YES to, not what you say NO to.

You want to make financial decisions from a place of abundance and respect for your money, not lack and fear of “not enough”.

When you make a decision to put some money aside into your “peace of mind” fund (aka emergency fund),

are you making this decisions from a place of fullness (e.g. “YES, I CAN SAVE, I LOVE PAYING MYSELF FIRST and having the “peace of mind” fund”)

    OR

from a place of lack and scarcity (“I don’t have enough to put money aside”, “my income is too small to save money”, “I have to save for the “rainy day””)?

That’s an important question to ask yourself if you want to test your focus.

If you focus on all the abundance you already have and what else you want to create in your life, then saving money becomes an empowering experience!

This is an important distinction to remember.

Let’s talk about ”The grass is always greener on the other side” syndrome – comparing yourself and your life with others, focusing on what “they” have and you do not.

There is always someone out there who may have more of what you want – more wealth, more success, more love, more fame, whatever. And if you focus on what “they have and you do not”, YOU make yourself “LESS THAN THEM.”

It adds stress, pressure, and triggers toxic “I’m not lucky/not enough” feelings….

    YOU sabotage yourself.

What if you flip this and think about all the people who have less than you, who would love to have what you have – health, home, family, friends, etc.

Remember that NOTHING is GUARANTEED in life – what you have NOW is not guaranteed forever.

Bring your ATTENTION and ACKNOWLEDGE what you have NOW, and the progress you’ve made thus far. Then decide which areas of your life you want to up-level.

Once you stop comparing yourself and your life with someone else’s (who may have more wealth and success right now), and intentionally use your attention to focus on what YOU HAVE at the moment in your life and what YOU CAN adjust (e.g. upgrade your skills, become more aware of your old beliefs and money patterns, etc.), you will release stress, feel better, and elevate your mental and emotional energy.

THAT will create a rich ground for more opportunities and wealth in your life.

There is a great Buddhist saying: “There is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way.”

Gratitude is the way. Being in the Now is the way. Realizing how fortunate you are in so many ways… is the way.

YOU CAN CHOOSE where you direct your attention.

YOU CAN CHOOSE what you give your energy to.

    YOUR ATTENTION DIRECTS YOUR ENERGY.

    What YOU SEE, IS.

    What YOU FOCUS ON, EXPANDS.

  • Essential #1 for Creating Wealth and Success

Essential #1 for Creating Wealth and Success

Would you agree that many people go through life and are constantly looking for keys to success, wealth, freedom, happiness….

And very few realize that they have ALL the keys in them!

I’ve observed many successful people and had a few experiences of truly remarkable successes and epic “failures” myself.

So, starting today and for the next few weeks, I’m going to share with you some powerful Principles for Creating Success and Wealth.

Essential #1 for Creating Wealth and Success:

Take full responsibility for your financial situation

    • Let go of the “victim” attitude around money and wealth

If you keep feeling, thinking and saying something like “I’m not lucky”, “I’m not good with money”, “I am not meant to be wealthy”, etc. – you will be experiencing events and circumstances that are congruent with this attitude and these thought patterns.

That’s why you must let go of the victim attitude around money and wealth.

You are in victim mode when you’re justifying, blaming or complaining how unlucky you are or how hard it is; when you’re willing to be disrespected or mistreated on some level only to maintain some sense of safety or comfort; when you’re making someone (or something) your Source and experience pain and suffering as the result of this; when you feel that life is happening to you, not for you.

You are in empowered mode when you take full responsibility for your financial situation; accept where you are; acknowledge the challenges and start focusing on possible solutions – what you can do every day, every month and every year to make your life situation better.

YOU can only change what is under your control – your attitude, your choices, your focus.

    • Do not make anyone or anything your Source; do not give your power away

Any time you make someone or something the Source of your success, wealth or happiness, you set yourself up for disappointment.

Because when you become cut off from your true Source – God / Universe / Divine Intelligence – you may run out of energy, feel overwhelmed, and burned out.

It makes it impossible for you to show up authentically – to be the person you were created to be, giving the gifts you were meant to give and fulfilling the greater purpose life has for you.

NOBODY is your Source. Yet everybody can be your channel…of abundance, or wisdom, or expansion, or transformation, or love….

    • Make money important in your life

Taking responsibility for your financial situation involves a decision to make money important in your life.

Making money important doesn’t mean becoming attached to the symbols of wealth (e.g. expensive gadgets, designer clothes and fancy cars) and linking your personal worth to your net worth.

Making money important means appreciating the money you have right now; paying attention to your relationship with money and your money habits; having the intention of growing wealth, and becoming a savvy manager of your money.

Energy flows where attention goes. And Money is energy.

    • Use the power of PERSPECTIVE

Look for lessons and gifts that could be present in your challenging experiences. Pay attention to the MEANING YOU ASSIGN to your experiences…the STORY YOU CREATE about your situation.

As Dr Wayne Dyer said “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at will change.”

Adopt the belief that life happens FOR you, NOT TO you.
