Essential #7 for Creating Wealth and Success

Creating Wealth and Success with Millen Livis

Do you remember that in Essential #4 for creating Wealth and Success, I talked about the importance of feeling rich and living wealthy regardless of your current financial situation?

To feel rich and live wealthy, in addition to everything else that I shared with you earlier, you’ve got to take on the identity of a rich person! Start with thinking like a rich person and normalizing your new, wealthy reality and focus on experiences that confirm (to your own logical mind) that you already have wealth.

Make feeling wealthy your new NORMAL.

I encourage you to practice the following:

    1. Develop Confident Decisiveness – train yourself to take bold decisive actions and be responsible for the outcome.
    2. Be willing to take risk (calculated risk).
    3. Don’t be afraid of failures – see them as Valuable Growth Lessons. “Failures” are the bricks to your road to success. Many people “failed” their way to riches.
    4. Play to WIN, NOT not to lose (and be willing to leave the Good to welcome the Great).

    Fortune favors the bold.

So, the Essential # 7 for Creating Wealth and Success is:

    Be Willing to Take Risk.

You’ve got to be in a game and be OK with losing in order to learn and grow.Yes, you’ve got to PRACTICE taking decisive actions and be willing to take risk.

Not ‘gambling’ type of risk! Mindful risk.

And often this entails to be willing to leave the Good to welcome the Great.

Here’re some examples from my own life when I did exactly that:

    • Invested in the stock market to raise money for the down-payment on our first house
    • Left my marriage… left everything behind – the gorgeous house, the comfort of 2 incomes…and re-starting my NEW LIFE in a tiny apartment near my job.
    • Left my well-paid and prestigious Wall Street career and went back to the Business School in my mid 40’s, then started my own investment company
    • Started my wealth mentoring business, put myself out there to support other women on the journey to wealth and freedom. My remarkable life didn’t happen overnight. My CHOICES shaped me and my life’s trajectory.

And a few of these choices were risky. I was (for the most part) playing to WIN, NOT not to lose.  I was scared… often.

Yet I was willing (and it was REALLY scary) to Leave the Good in order to Welcome the Great.

Obviously, different people have different tolerance for risk. Be aware of your risk tolerance, respect it yet see if you can stretch it a bit…and a bit more…and more.

    Fortune favors the bold.

The suggestions offered here may feel like scary or crazy… Keep practicing them anyway.

Things will start shifting… your feelings will change, your energy will change….
You will start creating and experiencing forward-moving momentum.

Synchronizations and serendipitous experiences will be happening, you will start attracting good opportunities instead of repelling them.

Risk is embedded in any business or investing decisions.

Nothing is guaranteed in life (except taxes and death.)

BUT it doesn’t mean that you should stay away from any endeavors that involve risk, not at all!

    Instead, you’ve got to:

    • Become aware of your particular risk tolerance and;
    • Take decisions that involve measured/mindful risk so that your possibility for success exceeds the possibility of loss
    • Your loss will not put you into despair and make you lose sleep
    • Develop courage and Be Willing to Leave the Good to Welcome the Great.

How to Become Financially Independent: 4 Essentials of the Wealth Pathway

Millen Livis, Wealth Coach, Financial Empowerment Mentor, Building Wealth, Wealth Programs, Investing Training, Wealth Mindset

“How did you become financially independent?”

“How much money you had when you started?”

“How much time did it take you to build the income needed for being financially free?”

“How can I become financially free?”

These are good questions that I hear from people who know me enough to ask them.

And I totally understand the desire to know HOW…  While money is not everything and it cannot buy you happiness, it helps to enjoy life, right?  LOL

In this articles I want to cover the HOW questions. But first, let ME ask you a few questions…

…do you feel like you have to work hard for your money for the rest of your life?

…do you worry that you don’t do enough for your financial future?

…does the idea of becoming financially Independent seem like farfetched to you?

If you’ve answered YES to ANY of my questions – keep reading.  Otherwise, stop and go for a walk, or make love, or dance, or whatever. LOL

Are you still here? Then let’s dive into the 4 Essentials of the Pathway to Wealth.

If you’ve read my books, or heard me speaking and teaching, you know that I always emphasize the Duality of Money and Wealth.

Since EVERYTHING IS ENERGY, so IS MONEY.

Money and Wealth have a certain energy vibration Frequency that YOU CAN ALIGN WITH.

When it happens, you FEEL BLISSFUL and BLESSED, PEACEFUL and LOVED. NATURALLY.

And you can literally rewire your brain to align with the frequency of wealth by training yourself using particular rituals and developing certain habits and attitudes. You can find this information in a few other articles here  and here.

However, the information is not enough. You’ve got to apply it.

You’ve got to TRAIN YOUR MIND to ALLOW, to RECEIVE with EASE, to BE in the Frequency of Wealth naturally and continuously.

YES, your energy ALIGNMENT is super important. However, we also live in a physical, real world.  And in the real world, you’ve got to know the tactical/practical aspects of creating wealth.

Just like when you travel and want to get from point A to point B, you likely want to have a map to your destination (or use your GPS), unless you know the terrain already. Would you agree?

I distilled the intricacies of the PATHWAY to WEALTH into 4 essential elements. Let’s briefly go over them.

4 Essentials of the Wealth Pathway

    1. MAKE MONEY. You’ve got to offer VALUE. You’ve got to GIVE in order to GAIN. Your own alignment with higher energy vibration is very important here because it helps you become magnetic to your clients, prospective clients, hiring managers, etc.

    Sources of income could be:

    • Job
    • Business
    • Other sources of income
    1. KEEP MONEY. You’ve got to control your in-coming and out-coming cash flow and keep some of your money so you can grow it. You have at least 3 levers to control your cash flow:
    • Income
    • Budget (or a certain pattern of Spending);
    • Debt
    1. GROW MONEY. Develop a strategic plan for growing your money. You can use LEVERAGE to grow your money by:
    • Investing in the Stock Market
    • Investing in Real Estate
    • Investing in Private businesses
    • Buying a franchise business
    • Building your own business
    • Other
    1. MAKE MONEY WORK FOR YOU. You can design your Financial Independence by having multiple sources of passive income. That’s the financial setup when your money starts working for you. It’s not a question of IF but rather WHEN if you incorporate all the other essential elements.

ALL 4 essentials of the Wealth Pathway are very intertwine. You’ve got to attend to all of them in order to experience true Financial Freedom.

I hope that this simplified breakdown of the essential elements helps you see more clear how YOU too can get to Wealth and Financial Independence.

However, there is a catch here.

EVERYBODY WANTS TO HAVE WEALTH and FREEDOM BUT FEW ARE WILLING TO TRAIN TO HAVE IT.

If YOU are one of those few, let me share with you a MAP of TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES that cover one or several Wealth Pathway essentials.

These trainings are the VEHICLES designed to help you get to your desired destination faster and easier, with less setbacks and detours, and more fun.

  • 4 Common Mistakes People Make When Managing Financial Priorities and How to Avoid Them

4 Common Mistakes People Make When Managing Financial Priorities and How to Avoid Them

Do you want to be Financially Independent? Do you want to have more Freedom? More Choices? More Money?

OK, these are rhetorical questions…. Of course you do!

And what I’ve noticed is that there are two immediate mental reactions that most people have when they are asked these questions.

Some say: “It will not happen to me because __________ (e.g. “I’m broke”, “I’m not good with money”, “I don’t have a right profession / business”, “I’m single”, “Wealth makes people greedy”, “I don’t know how”.)

Others say: “What needs to happen so I have more Freedom, more Choices and more Money?” “What do I need to change? Learn? Do? How to Be?”

While having a nice income, or a rental property, or a portfolio of stocks is great, creating financial independence is waaaaay bigger than choosing the right stocks, buying properties, or making money at your job or in your business!

Financial Independence is about your way of being – taking choices that are congruent with your values and goals (financial and personal), having confidence and competence to manage your financial priorities so that the decisions you make get you closer and closer to your highest vision for life and work!

And it’s also about creating multiple streams of income by using your skills and passions (business), your money and knowledge (investing), other people’s money and resources (leverage) or all of the above in order to have the lifestyle you dream about.

There are many factors that play a role in how quickly you can become financially independent. And one of the most important factors is becoming really good at managing your financial priorities.

This one factor allows some people to live free of financial worries and anxiety while others to feel like they have to slave for money…for the rest of their life.

And this is true across different sociological and income groups!

So, what common mistakes people make when it comes to managing financial priorities? And how you can avoid these mistakes and get well on your way to financial independence?

Here’re some common mistakes that I’ve observed:

    1. Lack of Awareness about Core Values.

When you’re not aware of what is REALLY important in your life, you act sporadically. You make yearly resolutions not to spend more money than you make, not to have more debt, not to buy more “stuff”….

BUT then you get off track when you see a new shiny object like a designer dress or an exotic vacation offer, or _______ and you get your credit card out of your wallet and… get into debt again!

Be clear about your Core Values.

For example, if one of your core values is to have more freedom, more choices, more peace of mind – this awareness will help you avoid the financial temptations and make decisions that are congruent with your Core Values.

    1. Not Setting Intentions.

When you don’t set your financial intentions, you create randomly, often from a place of fear, doubt, and powerlessness. Since you’re creating all the time, why not to be intentional about your creations?

You want to have an emergency fund by a certain date? Set the intention!

You want to grow your wealth by making strategic investments? Set the intention!

You want to receive income from passive investments to support your desired lifestyle? Buy a new car? A house? Set an intention!

Intentions direct energy. Intentions set in motion possibilities.

Intentions direct experiences that you need to have so that your intentions become your reality.

Setting the intentions is the way to leverage the infinite organizing power of the Universe.

    1. Focusing on Problems instead of Solutions.

What you focus on, expands. You know that, right?

So, when you focus on how you cannot afford to buy _________, or how you cannot invest in __________, or how unlucky you are because you don’t make enough money – you focus on problems instead of solutions.

Choose to Focus on what you say YES TO when you manage your financial priorities!

For example, you can ask yourself “what would need to happen so I’ll be able to _______?” “What can I do today, this week, this month to make more money? To pay off my debt AND save more? To invest and grow my wealth?”

You can brainstorm different options, write them down, choose which ones excite you the most and take the first step…and the next…and the next.

With the focus on solutions, you’ll be able to take inspired actions!

And even small actions taken towards your desired financial results  will help you make better financial decisions.

    1. Not Living in Integrity with Your Financial Goals.

You may know your core values and even set your intentions and financial goals. But if you don’t practice financial discipline, if you don’t live in a way that supports your financial goals, it’s unlikely that you become financially independent any time soon.

Because knowing what you need to do is not enough!

Implementing your knowledge, doing what needs to be done even if it’s not easy or uncomfortable – THAT shows your commitment and determination.

THAT will lead to results! Because “devil is in execution”, agree?

And even if you made some financial mistakes in the past – it doesn’t matter! Because you are NOT your experiences!

Managing your financial priorities well is a skill that you can attain and practice!

If you’re not where you want to be in your life, financially – it’s time to change.

Manage your financial priorities in the ways that support your financial goals and core values.

  • What Is Your Worth? Hint: It’s Not What You Think!

What Is Your Worth? Hint: It’s Not What You Think!

“The more you’re like yourself, the less you are like anyone else, which makes you unique.”
    ~ Walt Disney

“I am not where I supposed to be in this stage of my life.”

“I appreciate the great money I make but I feel I could do and have more.”

“If I only had a thriving business, I would be happy. I don’t feel that I live my full potential.”

In my experience as a wealth coach and financial freedom mentor, I have yet to meet a single woman who was truly deeply connected to the intrinsic magic that she possesses.

I am referring to the true magic of YOU that is so much more than your appearance, your business success or the size of your bank/brokerage account.

I am referring to the magic of YOU that you were so highly aware of when you were a little kid.

Remember those glorious days when everything was possible; when you were happy by just being YOU?

Remember the time when you didn’t try to prove your worth or impress anybody? When you didn’t compare yourself?

Do you remember those days when your heart was filled with enthusiasm for life and curiosity about ‘what else is possible’?

Would you agree that you were more connected to the REAL YOU when you were a child than you are now?

Although your physical body has changed significantly, the true essence of you as pure consciousness, as spiritual being, hasn’t changed!

That’s why when you see your picture when you were 3 or 5 years old, you can easily recognize yourself although there is not a single cell that is present in your body now was present than…

“How does all this relate to money and wealth?’ you may ask.

    Good Question!

If you want to achieve success in life, you must shift your perception of yourself as limited, unlucky or any other judgmental label you may have assigned to yourself.

Money is energy and it likes to ‘hangout’ with those who emit true enthusiasm for life and live in the question “What else is possible?”

So many people live their lives by subconsciously counting their ‘successes and failures’, their ‘right and wrong decisions’, their ‘luck and misfortunes’.

What if you shifted your perspective of yourself and stopped trying to ‘prove your value’?

What if you released your judgements of yourself whatever they may be – successful, unlucky, looser, achiever – and instead truly connected to the AWARENESS of YOUR INTRINSIC VALUE?

I realize that these suggestions may sound esoteric or even radical for some of you… After all, it’s part of our culture to strive for bigger and better, for glamour and fame, right?

It is also likely that your parents had good intentions while planting the seeds of judgement in your mind by saying things like “You could do much better.”

Ask yourself, does it make YOU happier to be in a perpetual ‘proving your worth’ state of mind?

Does it make YOU more joyful, more loving and more connected to God?

It has been my personal experience and observation of other people’s struggles that looking for your value and trying to prove your worth or your specialness lead to comparisons, endless competitiveness and, ultimately, inner unhappiness or turmoil.

Rather than BEING AWARE and OWNING THE INTRINSIC VALUE OF YOU,  you’re trying to prove your value and your worth. By the way, when I say you, I include myself in this category, as I too had been in this subtle mental trap for a long time.

Today I invite you to entertain the following questions

    • What would it be like if you stopped judging yourself and trying to prove your value and instead recognized your inherited worthiness?
    • How much happier will you feel?
    • How much freer will you be?

I find true Self-awareness to be so important for life satisfaction and wealth building that I incorporate these concepts of ‘winning the inner game’ into my wealth building training as essential elements for living a prosperous, happy and healthy.

  • Your Path To Financial Freedom: Where Do You Start?

Your Path To Financial Freedom: Where Do You Start?

There are tons of books and seminars these days about abundance because it’s a “hot topic” now. Everybody wants it, everybody likes to talk about it.

But what does abundance mean to you?

Luxurious houses, expensive cars, designer clothes, exquisite jewelry?

Or maybe for you it means having the freedom to choose how to spend your time and live your life?

Whatever it is, I invite you to define it for yourself if you want to experience it one day.

Many of us were raised with limiting beliefs’ programming. This external conditioning implies that you are confined to a certain level of possibilities in your life that is restricted by things like your parents’ social status, your race, religion, education, country of origin, etc.

It is often so deeply ingrained in our minds that we often sabotage ourselves and have no idea that we have these “blind spots”! It’s really hard to think and live wealthy when your perception of what’s possible for you is defined by your past, or your current challenges, or others’ opinions.

The good news is that it’s a complete and shameful lie.

    You are powerful by design.

You are only limited by your own imagination and beliefs’ system.

You and only you can make the decision to live your best life, to experience abundance and joy or… to complain and compare yourself with others who seem to have everything that you would like to have. Yes, it’s a matter of choice. (more…)

  • Competing Financial Priorities: 3 Human Biases About Money

Competing Financial Priorities: 3 Human Biases About Money

    Fin

I recently saw the statistics that 60 % of baby boomers are more afraid of running out of money in their retirement than they are afraid of death. Millennials are buying cryptocurrencies, often using their credit cards, with hopes of become overnight millionaires.

Over 70% of businesses fail within the first 5 years because of cash flow problems.

From my personal experience and observations, awareness of your money habits, planning your financial future, and having financial discipline are the most critical factors for creating a comfortable retirement.

As Robert Kiyosaki once said, “It’s not how much money you make that matters most, but how much money you keep. How hard it works for you and how many generations you keep it for.”

Making a good living does not automatically put you in the “more than enough” or “affluent” category. Because it’s not just about how much you earn but also what you do with what you earn. Do I hear “Yes”?

Now let’s go over different ways you can choose to manage your competing financial priorities.

If you want to become financially independent, one of the most important skills you must acquire is managing your money intentionally, so that regardless of your current income, you become richer every month and every year.

    How do you accomplish this?

By managing your competing financial priorities while saving and growing your money.

When it comes to managing your financial priorities, it’s a good idea to be aware of the three human biases that may affect you financial choices and decisions.

    1. The Present Bias

As a human being, you are wired to take care of immediate needs first, making sure your essential requirements for food, shelter and security are met. So it’s understandable that when current, short-term financial needs and goals compete for your attention, saving for the future gets neglected. For example, when you focus on car and home repairs, your kids’ day-care or private school, or a new heating/cooling system, your long-term savings for big purchases such as education, financial emergencies, or retirement go to the back burner.

The famous Hierarchy of Human Needs by psychologist Abraham Maslow outlines the progression of human needs and human awareness as we ascend from meeting our immediate survival needs to the need to feel fulfilled and self-actualized.

We like to say: “Live in the moment”, right?

Right, but not when it comes to your money; with money you must be intentional.

Most people have difficulty envisioning distant events. It’s easy to envision, associate with and express immediate financial needs. This is something that financial professionals refer to as “the present bias.” The “present bias” makes you handle competing financial goals by assigning your highest priority to immediate needs and nearest goals, and overlooking the long-term financial priorities.

    1. The Availability Bias

The availability bias is another mental pitfall when you are very comfortable with your current available income and assume that you will always have it. So, why bother thinking about long term financial goals?

While this bias pertains to all humans, it’s especially common among new entrepreneurs and famous sports figures, who often go through feast/famine experiences and some end-up in financial ruin. Many of the currently well-off folks treat their businesses or contracts as their piggy banks that are available to cover any and all desires.

    1. The Busy-bee Bias

The busy-bee bias is very common among highly paid professionals who are so busy making money that they don’t make time to plan how they can grow it, let alone how they can make their money work for them!

These people rely heavily on the easily available information and often don’t do their due diligence on the accuracy of the advice and integrity of the source from which they receive their financial advice. As the result, they put more value on the easily available solutions rather than more strategic ones and end up disappointed.

The tendencies and biases I have mentioned often cause people to spend everything they are currently earning. They want to enjoy their money to the fullest while they can, or save and invest first for their family’s educational goals, rather than diversifying their savings across different financial priorities like planning their financial future, retirement, health-related needs, and creating financial independence.

More often than not, goals like buying a new car or a house, financing private school or college tuition for your kids, become top priorities relative to retirement or financial independence goals. However, you don’t want to burden your kids by depending on their financial support when you get older, right?

So, how can you manage competing financial priorities, the immediate and the upcoming ones? The solution may be as simple as asking yourself if the financial priorities you’re focusing on now are really the most important ones, given your overall goals in life, not only your immediate needs.

Here are two simple questions you can ask yourself:

    1. What are my short and long term priorities in life?
    2. What are my core values that help me experience more joy and fulfillment in life?

The answers to these questions will help you sort out your financial priorities.

For example, one of my core values is FREEDOM. I can be content driving an older car, leading a modest lifestyle and wearing stylish but not necessarily designer clothes and shoes. However, I am willing to do whatever it takes to achieve financial independence so that I can have the Freedom of Choice in my life.

Now, pause and write down answers to the two questions above.

Share your experiences in the comments.  I would love to know how you manage your competing financial priorities.

And here’s the recording of the mini-class on this topic
